Good afternoon,
The Wooten Company is serious about protecting employee safety and health related to the spread of the Coronavirus, as well as other communicable illnesses, and believes the following guidelines will help the company and employees avoid undue risk.
• All employees should make themselves aware of the following primary symptoms of the Coronavirus, which are also symptoms of general colds and flu:
o Fever
o Difficulty breathing
o Sore throat/coughing
o Note: Very few Coronavirus cases include vomiting or diarrhea symptoms.
• Due to concerns of contagion, employees should not report to work if they have the following symptoms. The only exception to this is if the employee (and their medical provider) determine that the condition is a result of a separate, non-communicable condition.
o Severe respiratory symptoms (severe coughing or difficulty breathing)
o Fevers over 100.4: Employees should not report to work until their fever is below that level for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication.
o It is suggested that employees with a fever and difficulty breathing visit a doctor.
o Employees who have coughs/colds that are not severe and do not accompany a fever should practice routine hygiene to include hand-sanitizing frequently, washing hands frequently (with soap for 20 seconds), covering a cough/sneeze with shirt sleeve or tissue (not hands), and sanitizing their work area. Face masks may be worn, but there is not necessarily evidence that they are helpful; some evidence indicates they may cause other problems and encourage bacteria growth. o Review CDC and OSHA guidance if you choose to use them.
o All employees are encouraged to observe the same routine hygiene procedures as those employees who are ill (above). Simple hygiene is very helpful in preventing transmission of many illnesses.
o Supervisors have the authority to ask an employee to leave due to concerns about contagion and safety.
We have hand sanitizer available throughout the offices for your frequent use. (The masks we ordered are on back order.)
Please wash your hands often (with soap for 20 seconds, which is equal to singing the “Happy Birthday” song twice), watch for signs of illness and do what you can to prevent the spread of any contagious virus and flu in our office, your home or community.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Shirley
