Wooten Employees –
I purposely did not send an update over the weekend to hopefully allow you to have some relaxation, as little (or as much) as it may have been.
Since last week, we have learned that COVID 19 is rapidly spreading throughout the US. The number of US cases has exceeded 150,000 and there have been 2,780 related deaths. CNN indicates that North Carolina specifically ranks #19 nationwide with 12 cases per 100k population.
• According to NC DHHS, there are 1,307 COVID 19 cases in NC. Six deaths in NC have occurred to date and there are 137 current hospitalizations.
• Regarding our regional office locations, NC DHHS reports the following number of cases by County:
County Cases - Deaths
Brunswick 13 - 0
Catawba 14 - 0
Forsyth 39 - 0
Pitt 16 - 0
Wake 166 - 0
• In response to the growing number of COVID 19 cases, Governor Cooper issued Executive Order 121 on Friday afternoon enacting ‘stay at home’ for the entire State of North Carolina effective on Monday, March 30 (today) at 5 pm which shall remain in effect for 30 days. All non-essential businesses will be temporarily closed.
• The Governor’s Executive Order allows ‘essential businesses’ to remain operating to support ‘essential operations’.
o The Wooten Company is deemed an ‘essential business’ under Section 2.C.25 ‘Professional Services’ in the Executive Order.
o At this time, The Wooten Company will continue to operate under a voluntary arrangement as deemed appropriate by the individual employee.
o Voluntary work in the office is subject to social distancing requirements and best practices.
o Voluntary work from home remains an option in accordance with previous updates.
• Local orders or proclamations that are stricter than the Governor’s Executive Order take precedence and should be reviewed and complied with by our Division Leads/Regional Managers accordingly.
• I encourage you to stay in touch with your practice teams and coordinate work accordingly. Strategies may be implemented at the team level to allow a combination of work-from-home and work-from-office to minimize potential for COVID 19 spread.
• I also encourage you to stay in touch with your clients and discuss alternate provisions for progress meetings, onsite meetings, bid openings, etc. and limit travel/personal interaction to the greatest extent possible.
Please note that our Company leadership is in continuous discussions to best sustain our daily operations while providing our employees maximum flexibility to make necessary adjustments in their work schedules. We value you and your families and want you to make the best-informed decisions.
Thank you for your patience, perseverance and hard work.
