Wooten Employees -
As you know, Governor Roy Cooper declared a State of Emergency through Executive Order No. 116 to strengthen our State’s response to the novel coronavirus, known as COVID-19. The number of cases in NC has risen to 137 (0 deaths) and in the US has risen to 10,442 (150 deaths) according to NC DHHS.
We encourage you to continue following recommendations put forth by the CDC or NC DHHS. Both are excellent online resources containing many guidelines and recommendations for you and your families to remain healthy. Additional information regarding our medical plan benefits coverage is available on the MedCost website.
We honestly do not know what the Federal or State government officials plan next for North Carolina businesses and residents. On a national level:
• HR 6201 ‘Families First Coronavirus Response Act’ has passed the House, Senate and signed into law by President Trump - a summary of FMLA expansion under the new law.
• Governors in several states (California, New York) have been declared ‘shelter in place’ or ‘stay at home’ states. While not mandated in NC, we should prepare for this declaration to be enacted which will eliminate non-essential travel. Therefore, you should consider taking necessary work materials home with you today if needed to work from home.
And now regarding our current in-house measures:
After voluntary implementation of Phase 2 measures, many employees have elected to work from home. Takeaways so far:
• MS Teams is very useful for real-time communication
• Remote desktop for out of office access is working well (thank you Steven Dodds)
• Call forwarding from your work phone extension to your cell/home phone is enabling client/employee contact
• Our internal weatherboard will be posted with COVID 19 updates
For others who are currently still working in the office, we are recommending staff continue to:
• Use social distancing to limit direct contact with others to minimize the possible spread of COVID-19.
• Use conference calls and video conferencing in place of face-to-face meetings.
• Avoid unnecessary travel.
• Wash your hands frequently and clean and disinfect surfaces in the workspace.
Thank you for your continued patience and feedback.
